Reserving and Conveying to the Municipality of Sogod, Cebu Lots 428 and 414 in Barangay Poblacion

PROCLAMATION NO. 2110

WHEREAS, in 1988 up to 1989, the Municipality of Sogod, Cebu, using its own funds, reclaimed an area located in one of its barangays, Brgy. Poblacion for the purpose of developing a more suitable site for its various government offices and facilities and other purposes consistent for the public good and benefit; AHCaED

WHEREAS, the said Municipality was able to reclaim a total land area of thirteen thousand eight hundred five (13,805) square meters;

WHEREAS, presently, the lots now serve as an important government center for the municipality as well as for the its public market, sports complex, school site and other related structures;

WHEREAS, in 1989, the cadastral survey in the town has already denominated the lots as lots 428 and 414;

WHEREAS, Article X of the 1987 Constitution mandates the Government to promote local autonomy as well as to accelerate the economic and social growth of development of local government units;

WHEREAS, Chapter XI of the Commonwealth Act 141 authorizes the President of the Republic of the Philippines, when public interests so requires, to make the appropriate proclamation to reserve or allot parts of the public domain for the use of its branches or government units;

WHEREAS, indeed, public interest dictates that the Municipality of Sogod, Cebu should own a suitable site for its government centers and facilities in order for it to conduct its affairs efficiently and thereafter for it to accelerate its goal for development;

WHEREAS, for this purpose, it is essential that the subject lots be reserved for and its ownership over thereof be immediately transferred to the Municipality of Sogod, Cebu, Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested upon me by law and the 1987 Constitution, do hereby declare that the area denominated as Lots 428 and 414 of the cadastral survey located in Brgy. Poblacion, Municipality of Sogod, Cebu, Philippines and consisting of thirteen thousand eight hundred five (13,805) square meters be reserved to and conveyed to the Municipality of Sogod, Cebu;

IN WITNESS HEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
