AUTHORIZING THE SIGLAKAS (NATIONAL PHYSICAL FITNESS AND SPORTS FOR MASS PROPAGATION PROGRAM) OFFICE TO CONDUCT AN EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN FOR THE PERIOD FROM DECEMBER 1, 1981, TO JANUARY 31, 1982

WHEREAS, running is being promoted and developed as the sport and form of recreation for the Filipinos for it is cheap as it is convenient; casia

WHEREAS, cognizant of the popularity of "running" as a sport in many countries of the world including the Republic of the Philippines and of its tremendous possibilities in attaining the wholesome benefits stated above, the SIGLAKAS Office and the Marathon Association of the Philippines in coordination with various government and private instrumentalities/agencies are staging the 1st Manila International Marathon and Exposition; and

WHEREAS, the Manila International Marathon and Running Exposition which is intended to become an annual affair is more than a sporting event as it will also showcase the achievements of the government; cd

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the SIGLAKAS Office to conduct an Educational and Fund Campaign for the period from December 1, 1981 to January 31, 1982.

I call upon all the citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to extend their fullest support to this campaign by giving generously of their means.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
