Amendment to P.D. No. 1196 Re: Election of Municipal Officials of Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan

PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1658

AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1196 REGARDING THE ELECTION OF MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF DOÑA REMEDIOS TRINIDAD, PROVINCE OF BULACAN

WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 1196 was issued to accelerate the pace of development of a long neglected area at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains belonging to the territorial jurisdiction of the Province of Bulacan;

WHEREAS, the new municipality is envisioned to be a model municipality through the assistance of the different agencies of the government;

WHEREAS, the municipality in order to implement the plan entered into memorandum of agreements with the Ministry of Human Settlements, the Bureau of Lands, the Bureau of Forest Development and the Bureau of Mines; and

WHEREAS, implementation of the programs for development is just gaining momentum and should not be disrupted. aisa dc

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree:

SECTION 1. Section 3 of Presidential Decree No. 1196 is hereby amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 3. The Present elective and appointive provincial officials of the Province of Bulacan shall perform their duties as ex-officio officials in the newly created Municipality of Doña Remedios Trinidad until the municipal officials of said municipality shall have been appointed by their appointing officials. The Barangay Captains of the seven barangays absorbed by the newly created municipality shall be appointed by the President as members of the Municipal Sangguniang Bayan and the remaining members shall be selected from the different sectors of the private group. Such elective officials so appointed shall hold office until their successors shall have been elected in a special election ordered or decreed by the President of the Philippines, unless sooner removed by him. Such appointive officers and employees as may be necessary to organize or to complete the government personnel of the Municipality of Doña Remedios Trinidad shall be appointed as provided for under existing laws."

SECTION 2. This Decree shall take effect immediately
