Holding of Plebiscite for the Creation of New Municipalities and Barangays

PROCLAMATION NO. 2188

SETTING THE DATE FOR THE HOLDING OF A PLEBISCITE TO DECIDE THE CREATION OF NEW MUNICIPALITIES AND BARANGAYS TO COINCIDE WITH THE BARANGAY ELECTIONS ON MAY 17, 1982

WHEREAS, the Batasang Pambansa has enacted several laws creating new municipalities and barangays and has authorized thereunder the President of the Philippines to set the date for the holding of a plebiscite in the affected areas for purposes of ratification; and cd i

WHEREAS, the holding of such plebiscite to coincide with the barangay elections on May 17, 1982 will minimize government expenses relative to this political exercise;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby direct the following:

1. The plebiscite to ratify the creation of new municipalities and barangays specified in the laws enumerated below shall coincide with the holding of the barangay elections on May 17, 1982:

a. B.P. Blg. 146; An Act creating the municipality of Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.

b. B.P. Blg. 168; An Act creating the municipality of Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur.

c. B.P. Blg. 171; An Act creating the municipality of Don Mariano Marcos, Misamis Occidental.

d. B.P. Blg. 173; An Act creating the municipality of Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Norte.

e. B.P. Blg. 183; An Act creating the municipality of Rosseller Lim, Zamboanga del Sur.

f. B.P. Blg. 203; An Act creating the barangay Industrial Valley in the municipality of Marikina, Metro Manila.

g. B.P. Blg. 204; An Act creating the municipality of Bacungan, Zamboanga del Norte.

h. B.P. Blg. 206; An Act creating the municipality of Aleosan, North Cotabato.

i. B.P. Blg. 219; An Act creating barangay New Alabang Village in the municipality of Muntinlupa, Metro Manila.

j. B.P. Blg. 167; An Act constituting the sitio of Allere in the municipality of Salvador, province of Lanao del Norte, into a new barangay of the said municipality to be known as barangay Inasagan.

k. B.P. Blg. 141; An Act creating the municipality of Banisilan in the province of North Cotabato.

2. The Commission on Elections shall supervise the conduct of the aforesaid plebiscite and shall promulgate the rules and regulations necessary to implement this proclamation. cd i
