PROCLAMATION NO. 1085
DECLARING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER AS THE "PHILIPPINE FILM INDUSTRY MONTH"
WHEREAS, Section 14, Article XIV of the Constitution provides that the State shall foster the preservation, enrichment and dynamic evolution of a Filipino national culture based on the principle of unity in diversity, in a climate of free artistic and intellectual expression;
WHEREAS, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) was created through Republic Act No. 9167 to undertake initiatives that will promote the growth and development of the local film industry, as well as establish, organize, operate and maintain local and international film festivals, exhibitions and other similar activities;
WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 622 (s. 2018) declared 12 September 2019 to 11 September 2020 as the official celebration of the "Centennial Year of Philippine Cinema"; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to recognize the invaluable contribution and sacrifices of all stakeholders and sectors of the film industry, as well as provide avenues to showcase and celebrate the achievements and progress of the discipline of film and filmmaking;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare the month of September of every year as the "Philippine Film Industry Month."
The FDCP shall lead the observance of the Philippine Film Industry Month, and identify the programs, projects and activities for its celebration.
All government agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, are hereby directed, and all local government units, as well as the private sector, are hereby encouraged, to cooperate with the FDCP in promoting and implementing programs, campaigns and activities pursuant to this Proclamation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
