PROCLAMATION NO. 1833
DECLARING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER AS BLOOD DISEASES MONTH
WHEREAS, the combined impact of three major blood-related diseases of Leukemia, Anemia and Bleeding disorders is immense, representing a significant portion of the total deaths due to cancer; DCIEac
WHEREAS, blood diseases related to nutrition and environmental conditions continue to increase in prevalence and pose serious effects to the Filipino people;
WHEREAS, the measures and strategies in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of blood diseases should be extensively and aggressively pursued to reduce the incidence and deaths related to blood diseases;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, organized in 1960, composed of medical professionals specialized in blood diseases, is dedicated to addressing the different concerns in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with blood diseases;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim the month of September as Blood Diseases Month and directing the Department of Health (DOH) to be the lead agency in undertaking activities, in coordination with the Philippine Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and other similar organizations, to increase awareness and understanding of blood-related diseases.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines, to be affixed.
