Declaring October 20, 2008, as Special (Non-Working) Day in Bacolod City
Proclamation No. 1634, issued on October 6, 2008, designates Monday, October 20, 2008, as a special non-working day in the City of Bacolod. This declaration is made in recognition of the 70th anniversary of Bacolod City Charter Day, which falls on October 19, 2008, a Sunday. The local government requested the shift to Monday to allow residents to fully celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies. The proclamation is authorized by Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita, under the authority of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

DECLARING MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2008, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF BACOLOD
WHEREAS, R.A. No. 7724 dated May 19, 1994, entitled "An act declaring October 19 of every year as a special non-working public holiday in the City of Bacolod to be known as "Bacolod City Charter Day";
WHEREAS, Sunday, October 19, 2008, marks the 70th Charter Day anniversary of the City of Bacolod;
WHEREAS, to enable the people of the City of Bacolod, celebrate the occasion, the Sangguniang Panlungsod requested that Monday, October 20, 2008, be declared as special (non-working) day instead of October 19, 2008, which falls on a Sunday;
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Bacolod, be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies. CSIDTc
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Monday, October 20, 2008, as special (non-working) day in the City of Bacolod.
