PROCLAMATION NO. 442
DECLARING 24 FEBRUARY 2018 AS DAY OF NATIONAL MOURNING
WHEREAS, the passing of renowned National Artist Napoleon V. Abueva, the "Father of Modern Philippine Sculpture," is a tragic loss to our nation;
WHEREAS, his passion and dedication for the arts shall always be an inspiration to the Filipino people; and
WHEREAS, the nation is in solidarity with and joins in the grieving of his family and friends;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and law, do hereby proclaim 24 February 2018 as day of national mourning for National Artist Napoleon V. Abueva.
I instruct all government offices, schools and educational institutions, and military installations in the Philippines to lower the Philippine flag to half-mast on 24 February 2018.
The entire nation is requested to offer prayers for the eternal repose of his soul.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
