SUPREME COURT MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 07-07

AUTHORIZING THE CONDUCT OF THE ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION ON RULE 65 OF THE REVISED RULES OF COURT AND THE ATTENDANCE OF SELECTED MEMBERS OF THE JUDICIARY THEREIN

WHEREAS, a Report entitled "Rule 65 of the Revised Rules of Court: Posing Impediments to a Streamlined Judicial System" was prepared under the Rule of Law Effectiveness (ROLE) Project and funded by the USAID. The purpose of said Study was to review Rule 65 of the Rules of Court, particularly on the power of the Court to issue writs of certiorari. As stated in the Report, the filing of petitions for Certiorari under Rule 65 is one of the major causes of case build-up in the Court's docket;

WHEREAS, in furtherance of said Report, ROLE and the Program Management Office (PMO) will conduct a series of Roundtable Discussions on Rule 65 of the Revised Rules of Court;

NOW, THEREFORE, the conduct of the First (1st) Roundtable Discussion on Rule 65 of the Revised Rules of Court and the attendance of the following Members of the Judiciary to this Roundtable Discussion is hereby authorized, the same to be held on 9 February 2007 at the Discovery Suites, Ortigas, Pasig City.
