Amending Proc. No. 120, Series of 1999 Re: Philippine Book Development Month
Proclamation No. 1436, issued on December 17, 2007, amends Proclamation No. 120, originally established in 1999, by changing the celebration of Philippine Book Development Month from June to November, starting in 2008. The shift aims to increase student participation, which was previously hindered by the school calendar and adverse weather conditions in June. This new timing aligns with the National Book Week, celebrated from November 24-30, further promoting the importance of books and reading. The amendment reflects a strategic decision by the Philippine government to enhance engagement in literary activities.
