Amendment to Proclamation No. 157, s. 1999 Re: National Maritime Day
Proclamation No. 1560, issued on July 17, 2008, amends Proclamation No. 157, which established the celebration of National Maritime Day on the last Friday of September each year to raise awareness of seafarers' welfare and maritime issues. The proclamation allows for the planning and coordination of this event to be alternately led by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA)/Cebu Ports Authority (CPA). It encourages all government agencies and private institutions to support these lead agencies in their efforts for the event. Additionally, it nullifies any previous proclamations that conflict with this new directive, effective immediately.
