PROCLAMATION NO. 1427
AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 867 WHICH AMENDS PROCLAMATION NO. 496 BY DECLARING DECEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS "ENERGY CONSCIOUSNESS MONTH"
WHEREAS, prices of energy particularly oil and electricity have risen sharply in recent years; TAaIDH
WHEREAS, current trends show that energy prices will continually rise due to increase in demand not just in the country but around the globe;
WHEREAS, there is a need to create public awareness through intensified information campaign to bring the people toward judicious conservation and efficient utilization of energy.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 867, series of 1996 by declaring December of every year as "Energy Consciousness Month" to coincide with the anniversary of the Department of Energy. Appropriate celebration of said month shall therefore be under the auspices of the Department of Energy.
