LMB MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 003-14
| SUBJECT | : | Supplemental Guidelines in the Establishment of Political Boundary Monuments |
In order to clarify the use of political boundary witness monuments provided under Section 74 c of the Manual on Land Survey Procedures as adopted under DENR Memorandum Circular No. 2010-13, the following additional procedures are hereby prescribed for the guidance of all concerned: CHcTIA
Section 74.
c. Intermediate points along said road or natural boundary need not be marked with monuments but shall be marked with at least two (2) witness monuments located as near as possible to the true corner (e.g., along both sides of the road, along the river banks, etc.);
Witness monuments of political boundaries shall be established in open areas, three (3) meters from the edge of the road or banks of rivers, creeks, streams and other natural features.
The witness monument shall be similar in size and materials of the political boundary, monument with the following markings on the side perpendicular to the road, river, and water ways:
a. Symbols W-1 and W-2, W-3 and W-4 and so on, to indicate the pair of witness monument located at either side of the road, river, and water ways.
b. The name of the adjacent political unit.
c. An arrow pointing to the location of the common boundary of the political units.
d. The distance in meter of the common boundary from the witness monument.
Natural witness monuments such as fixed hard rocks or boulders with exposed surface of more than 100 cm in diameter, if available in the area, can also be used. An "X" mark shall be engraved upon the surface of the boulder and a concrete nail shall be driven in order to indicate the corner to which measurement was made. If it is not feasible to drive a concrete nail on the boulder, the corner shall be defined only by an "X" mark engraved upon such stone.
This Memorandum Circular shall take effect immediately. THADEI
