Revision/Amendment of Article II, Section 8 of PAO Office Order No. 137, Series of 2010 (PAO Operations Manual)
The PAO Office Order No. 124-11, dated October 5, 2011, revises Article II, Section 8 of the PAO Operations Manual, outlining cases that Public Attorneys cannot handle. Specifically, they are prohibited from representing conflicting interests, prosecuting criminal cases unless certain conditions are met (such as prior assistance to the complainant or directives from higher authorities), handling adoption cases outside specific circumstances, and addressing violations of the Anti-Bouncing Checks Law unless appointed by the court. This amendment aims to clarify the limitations of legal assistance provided by Public Attorneys to ensure ethical compliance and proper service. Compliance with these guidelines is mandated.
