Request for Assistance by the Bureau of Corrections in the Verification of Authenticity of Court Documents Related to the Release from Imprisonment of Persons Deprived of Liberty Who Have Completely Served Their Sentences
The OCA Circular No. 214-2019 instructs all first and second level courts in the Philippines to assist the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) in verifying the authenticity of court documents related to the release of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) who have fully served their sentences. Undersecretary Gerald Quitaleg Bantag from BuCor requested this assistance to expedite the processing of release documents. The designated officer for this task is Ms. Remedious Pinky V. Santos from the BuCor Legal Office. Courts are reminded to maintain the confidentiality of court records and only release information permitted by law and existing regulations.

Acting on the letter dated 03 October 2019 of Undersecretary Gerald Quitaleg Bantag, Director General, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), requesting the Court's assistance in the BuCor's effort to facilitate the processing of the release documents of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) who have completely served their sentences, all first and second level courts are ENJOINED to assist the hereunder named officer of the BuCor Legal Office in verifying the authenticity of court documents related to the release from imprisonment of PDL:

Anent this directive, court officials and personnel are REMINDED of the confidential nature of court records and proceedings, and to release only information and court documents that are allowed by existing laws, rules of procedure, guidelines and other administrative issuances.
