REPUBLIC ACT NO. 149
AN ACT REAPPROPRIATING AND MAKING AVAILABLE ALL BALANCES OF THE APPROPRIATION AUTHORIZED UNDER ITEMS J-IV-2 AND J-IV-14 OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED EIGHTY REMAINING UNEXPENDED ON JUNE THIRTIETH, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN, FOR THE OPENING OF NEW OR ADDITIONAL ELEMENTARY CLASSES IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE PHILIPPINES
SECTION 1. The provisions of existing laws to the contrary notwithstanding, all balances of the appropriations authorized under Items J-IV-2 and J-IV-14 of Republic Act Numbered Eight, to wit:

| readers, and for the acquisition of furniture | ||
| and equipment, in connection with the operation | ||
| and maintenance of public elementary | ||

16,750,000.00"

remaining unexpended on June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, are hereby reappropriated and made available for the opening of new or additional elementary classes in the public schools throughout the Philippines during the school year nineteen hundred and forty-seven and nineteen hundred and forty-eight, including the purchase of textbooks and supplementary readers and the payment of the bonus of teachers, to be expended by the Secretary of Instruction in accordance with the provisions of section 7-I (4) of the Budget Act. cd
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
