Price Control Order for Corn Grits
Letter of Instructions No. 117, issued on August 23, 1973, by President Ferdinand E. Marcos, addresses the unstable market conditions for rice and corn in the Philippines due to lean production months and global supply shortages. The order establishes a price ceiling for corn grits produced by mills with a capacity exceeding 300 cavans per day, setting specific prices for various locations, such as Davao City and Cebu City. It also mandates that white corn grits be reserved exclusively for direct human consumption. The order is effective immediately, aiming to stabilize prices for essential consumer commodities.
