LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 1097

WHEREAS, the Philippine Government's national policy for the agricultural sector, places top priority on sustaining self-sufficiency in foodgrain production and on diversifying agriculture to provide better nutrition for the people;
WHEREAS, one of the projects of the Philippine Government, aimed at increasing agricultural production and farm incomes, create employment opportunities and improve the living conditions of the rural population, is the SECOND LAGUNA DE BAY IRRIGATION PROJECT situated in the provinces of Laguna and Cavite; and
WHEREAS, mindful of the incremental benefits the project could offer to farm families in the area, there is a need to preserve the present Friar Lands in the Province of Cavite, consisting of about 13,160 hectares, as agricultural land during the project life of the SECOND LAGUNA DE BAY IRRIGATION PROJECT;
NOW, THEREFORE, you are hereby directed to maintain and preserve the Cavite Friar Lands as reflected in the land-use plan approved by the Province of Cavite, exclusively for agricultural purposes. cd
This Letter of Instruction shall take effect immediately.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 1st day of January, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty One.
