PRC RESOLUTION NO. 001-16

PRESCRIBING THE NEW SCHEDULE OF THE BOARD LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR GEOLOGISTS (BLEG) FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2016

WHEREAS, Section 7 (d) of Republic Act No. 8981, otherwise known as the PRC Modernization Act of 2000, provides: The powers, functions and responsibilities of the Commission are as follows: (d) To administer and conduct the licensure examinations of the various regulatory boards, in accordance with the rules and regulations promulgated by the Commission, determine and fix the places and dates of examinations, . . .;

WHEREAS, the Professional Regulation Commission (Commission) issued PRC Resolution No. 2014-880 (A) and 2015-928 fixing the schedule at the 2015 Board Licensure Examination for Geologists (BLEG) on August 11, 12 and 13, 2015;

WHEREAS, for lack of the required quorum in the Professional Regulatory Board of Geology (Board), the Commission decided to indefinitely postpone the 2015 schedule of the BLEG until such time that appointments to the Board have been duly made;

WHEREAS, the vacancies in the Board have been filled up with the appointments of Hon. Rolando E. Peña and Elmer B. Billedo as the new Chairman and Member of the Board, respectively;

WHEREAS, Honorables Peña and Billedo have been sworn into their office on January 07, 2016;

WHEREAS, PRC Resolution No. 2015-948 was issued prescribing the master schedule of the professional licensure examinations, with the BLEG set on August 09, 10 and 11, 2016;

WHEREAS, there are appeals for the Board to reset the August 2016 BLEG, in view of the shift in the academic calendar of schools offering the Geology course/program;

WHEREAS, during its first (1st) Board meeting, it was agreed that the BLEG for calendar year 2016 shall be modified accordingly, subject to the approval of the Commission; HTcADC

WHEREAS, this proposed rescheduling of the 2016 BLEG has been properly coordinated with the Examination Division, Application Division, Rating Division and other involved offices, divisions and units of the Commission.

WHEREFORE, after consideration of the foregoing, it is hereby RESOLVED, that the 2016 BLEG shall be scheduled as follows: February 22, 23 and 24, 2016 and November 08, 09 and 10, 2016.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the deadline for the filing of applications for the February 2016 and November 2016 BLEG shall be on February 02, 2016 and October 19, 2016, respectively;

RESOLVED FURTHERMORE, that copies of this Resolution be published in any newspaper of national circulation and further posted in the PRC official website and distributed to the Board, Offices of the Director for Licensure, Secretary to the Boards, Application, Examination, Rating, Information and Communications Technology, Budget, Accounting, Legal and Investigation, Property and Supply Divisions, and all Regional Offices of the Commission for information and guidance.
