PROCLAMATION NO. 1163

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1973, FOR THE NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, youth development and training is a primary concern of the New Society in its efforts to build a strong, healthy and responsible citizenry in accordance with the mandate of the new Constitution;

WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has shown, in the last 33 years, that it is one of the most effective vehicles for youth development through its positive program for character building and citizenship education;

WHEREAS, the Government, in recognition of the GSP's contribution to national growth, has decreed the inclusion of Girl Scouting in the high school curriculum; and

WHEREAS, the GSP Organization needs funds to sustain its existing projects and activities and support the program which the inclusion of Scouting in the curriculum would necessarily require;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERTO V. REYES, Acting Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to conduct a national fund drive during the period from August 1 to December 31, 1973. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines to assist wholeheartedly in this campaign and to give generously of their means so that the Girl Scouts of the Philippines may be assured of adequate funds with which to carry on its week.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
