On November 16, 2021, the Philippine Supreme Court issued a resolution regarding the 17th Special Shari'a Bar Examinations, originally requested by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) to be held on February 20 and 27, 2022. The Court rescheduled the examinations to March 20 and 27, 2022, to allow for better preparation and respect for Ramadan. Additionally, the NCMF was authorized to accept petitions for the examination from November 22, 2021, to January 15, 2022. Dean Macrina A. Morados was appointed as the Chairperson of the examinations, acknowledged for her expertise in Shari'a Law.

IN RE: 17TH SPECIAL SHARI'A BAR EXAMINATIONS

NOTICES

Sirs/Mesdames :

Please take notice that the Court en banc issued a Resolution dated NOVEMBER 16, 2021, which reads as follows:

"B.M. No. 3914 (In re: 17th Special Shari'a Bar Examinations). — This delves into the Report dated 22 October 2021 submitted by Atty. Amor P. Entila, Assistant Bar Confidant, informing the Court of the Letter dated 15 October 2021 of Hon. Saidamen B. Pangarungan, Secretary of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), which beseeches that: 1) the 17th Special Shari'a Bar Examinations be scheduled on 20 and 27 February 2022 and 2) that the NCMF be given the authority to allow acceptance of Petitions to take the subject examination from 15 November 2021 to 15 December 2021.

The NCMF likewise nominated Dean Macrina A. Morados of the Institute of Islamic Studies of the University of the Philippines to be the overall Chairperson of the 17th Shari'a Bar Examinations.

In light of the resetting of the November 2021 Bar Examinations to 16, 23, and 30 January and 6 February 2022, We hereby grant the request of the NCMF to reschedule the 17th Shari'a Bar Examinations, albeit on a later date, i.e., 20 and 27 March 2022, to enable both the examinees and the Office of the Bar Confidant to better prepare therefor, as well as accord reverence to the observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan, which will take place from April to May 2022. Appositely, authority is hereby given to the NCMF to accept Petitions to take the 17th Shari'a Bar Examinations starting 22 November 2021 until 15 January 2022.

Anent the nomination of Dean Macrina A. Morados to be the Chairperson of the 2022 Shari'a Bar Exam, We note and approve the same given her proven knowledge and expertise in Shari'a Law and her sterling background in the academe.

WHEREFORE, the Court RESOLVES to:

1. GRANT the request for the resetting of the 17th Shari'a Bar Examinations. Accordingly, the aforesaid examinations are hereby RESCHEDULED to 20 and 27 March 2022;

2. APPOINT Dean Macrina A. Morados of the Institute of Islamic Studies of the University of the Philippines as the Chairperson of the 17th Shari'a Bar Examinations; and

3. AUTHORIZE the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos to ACCEPT Petitions to take the 17th Shari'a Bar Examination starting 22 November 2021 until 15 January 2022." Perlas-Bernabe, J., on official leave. Lopez, M.J., on leave. (adv4)
