Grant of Filipino Citizenship to Rev. Fr. Paul Van Parijs, CICM
Republic Act No. 8266, enacted on February 20, 1997, grants Filipino citizenship to Rev. Fr. Paul Van Parijs, a Belgian citizen and Roman Catholic priest of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM). The Act stipulates that he must take an oath of allegiance to become a Filipino citizen. The law took effect upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette on May 5, 1997.

AN ACT TO GRANT FILIPINO CITIZENSHIP TO REV. FR. PAUL VAN PARIJS, CICM
SECTION 1. Rev. Fr. Paul Van Parijs, a Belgian citizen and a Roman Catholic Priest of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM), is hereby granted Filipino citizenship: Provided, that he subscribe to the appropriate oath of allegiance as a Filipino citizen. cdt
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
