DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 20 TO 26, 2009 AS "HOG FARMERS WEEK"

WHEREAS, the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI), is a non-stock, non-profit umbrella organization of 48 autonomous livestock associations, with a total individual membership of more than 5,000 hog farmers; TAIDHa

WHEREAS, the NFHFI will hold its 18th National Hog Convention and Trade Exhibits on April 23 to 25, 2009 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to focus our attention on the role which the hog-farming sector plays in accelerating the development of the livestock industry;

WHEREAS, there is the imperative need to rechannel the hog farmers' energies towards excellence in production, animal health and become most vital in the daily food chain, responsible for the Filipino consumers' daily pork requirements; HSTAcI

WHEREAS, the NFHFI believes in being self-directed and empowered to instill in all its members and actualize the goals of the present administration's food security program.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 20 to 26, 2009 as "Hog Farmers Week".
