PROCLAMATION NO. 2453

DECLARING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1985, AS SERGIO OSMEÑA, SR. DAY AND A SPECIAL NON-WORKING PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CEBU AND THE CITIES OF CEBU, MANDAUE, LAPU-LAPU, DANAO AND TOLEDO

WHEREAS, Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr., President of the Philippine Commonwealth, espoused the cause of national unity during his whole career in the public service, thus, earning for himself the worthy appellation of "Apostle of National Unity";

WHEREAS, this 9th of September in the 107th birth anniversary of this great Filipino; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor him with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, September 9, 1985, as Sergio Osmeña, Sr. Day and a special non-working public holiday in the province of Cebu and in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Danao and Toledo.
