Proclamation No. 1629, issued on September 26, 2008, declares September 30, 2008, as a special (non-working) day in the Province of Eastern Samar. PROCLAMATION NO. 1629

DECLARING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2008, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF EASTERN SAMAR

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 6692, dated February 10, 1989, declared September 28 of every year as Balangiga Encounter Day and a special non-working holiday in the Province of Eastern Samar to commemorate the Balangiga encounter; TIDcEH

WHEREAS, September 28, 2008 falls on a Sunday prompting the Provincial Government of Eastern Samar, through its Governor, to request that the celebration be moved to September 30, 2008;

WHEREAS, the move is but fitting and proper so that the people of the Province of Eastern Samar may be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Tuesday, September 30, 2008, as a special (non-working) day in the Province of Eastern Samar.
