Declaring September 30, 2008, as a Special (Non-Working) Day in Eastern Samar
Proclamation No. 1629, issued on September 26, 2008, declares September 30, 2008, as a special (non-working) day in the Province of Eastern Samar. This adjustment is made to allow residents to celebrate Balangiga Encounter Day, originally set for September 28, which falls on a Sunday. The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar requested this change to ensure that the community could engage in appropriate ceremonies for the occasion. The proclamation is signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita, under the authority of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
