PROCLAMATION NO. 1756
DECLARING MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2009 AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF LAPU-LAPU
WHEREAS, Monday, April 27, 2009, marks the 488th anniversary of the Battle of Mactan, which has been described now as the "KADAUGAN SA MACTAN", a cultural and historical event for the City of Lapu-Lapu;
WHEREAS, the Battle of Mactan is among the significant events in Philippine history and serves as testimony to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Filipinos; and
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the residents of the City of Lapu-Lapu be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Monday, April 27, 2009, as special (non-working) day in the City of Lapu-Lapu.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 17th day of April, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Nine.
