PROCLAMATION NO. 2341
DECLARING THE TWENTY-SECOND OF MARCH NINETEEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-FOUR AND EVERY TWENTY-SECOND OF MARCH THERE-AFTER AS "GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO DAY" AND A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CAVITE AND THE CITIES EMBRACED THEREIN
WHEREAS, Thursday, March 22, 1984 marks the 115th birthday of General Emilio Aguinaldo, President of the First Philippine Republic and recognized leader of the Philippine Revolution;
WHEREAS, March 22, 1984 also marks the 87th anniversary of the Tejeros Convention establishing the 1897 Revolutionary Government and through the election of General Emilio Aguinaldo as its president signalled the start of an era of growing consciousness of nationality in the country;
WHEREAS, through this, General Emilio Aguinaldo has been recognized as a symbol of national unity and spokesman of his people's national aspirations;
WHEREAS, the people of Cavite, his birthplace, desire to celebrate his natal day with fitting ceremonies;
NOW THEREFORE, I FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the twenty-second day of March 1984 and every twenty-second day of March thereafter as "General Emilio Aguinaldo Day". The day however will be a regular working and school day.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 13th day of March, in the year of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Four.
