Declaring Friday, January 9, 2009, as Special (Non-Working) Day in the Province of Pangasinan
Proclamation No. 1700, issued on January 8, 2009, declares January 9, 2009, as a special (non-working) day in the Province of Pangasinan. This day commemorates Pangasinan Veterans' Day, marking the anniversary of the Lingayen Gulf Landing in 1945, which honors the bravery and sacrifices of Filipino soldiers, guerillas, and civilians. The proclamation aims to provide the people of Pangasinan the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies. The declaration was made by Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita under the authority of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

DECLARING FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 2009, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF PANGASINAN
WHEREAS, Friday, January 9, 2009, marks the celebration of Pangasinan Veterans' Day in the Province of Pangasinan; TcSICH
WHEREAS, January 9, 1945 commemorates the triumphant Lingayen Gulf Landing of the Allied Forces which showcased the heroism and bravery of Filipino soldiers, guerillas and civilians but also recognizes the tremendous contributions and valiant sacrifices of our veterans;
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Pangasinan, be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Friday, January 9, 2009 as special (non-working) day in the Province of Pangasinan.
