Proclamation No. 1688, issued on December 12, 2008, declares Thursday, December 18, 2008, as a special (non-working) day in Taguig City. This declaration is made to allow citizens ample time to participate in a plebiscite organized by the Commission on Elections for the creation of new barangays in the city. The proclamation is signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita, under the authority of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The aim is to facilitate the exercise of the people's voting rights on that day.

PROCLAMATION NO. 1688

DECLARING THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2008, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF TAGUIG

WHEREAS, Commission on Elections will conduct the plebiscite on Thursday, December 18, 2008, to ratify the creation of several barangays in Taguig City; AcTDaH

WHEREAS, in order to give the people of the City of Taguig ample time to exercise their right to vote, there is a need to declare Thursday, December 18, 2008 as special (non-working) day.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Thursday, December 18, 2008, as special (non-working) day in the City of Taguig.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
