Creation of Municipality of San Jose de Buan, Western Samar
Republic Act No. 5868, enacted on June 21, 1969, establishes the Municipality of San Jose de Buan in the Province of Western Samar by converting the existing Municipal District into a regular municipality. The current mayor, vice-mayor, and councilors will retain their positions until new officials are elected in the next general elections. This act took effect immediately upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette on February 16, 1970.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5868
AN ACT CREATING THE MUNICIPALITY OF SAN JOSE DE BUAN IN THE PROVINCE OF WESTERN SAMAR
SECTION 1. The Municipal District of San Jose de Buan in the Province of Western Samar is hereby converted into a regular municipality, to be known as the Municipality of San Jose de Buan. acd
SECTION 2. The incumbent mayor, vice-mayor, and councilors of the Municipal District of San Jose de Buan at the time of the approval of this Act shall continue to hold their respective offices in the new municipality until their successors shall have been elected in the next general elections for local officials and shall have qualified.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. aisa dc
