Authority of Officers and Enlisted Men of Philippine Expeditionary Force to Accept Awards Conferred by UN Member Nations
Republic Act No. 777, enacted on June 21, 1952, authorizes officers and enlisted men of the Philippine Expeditionary Force to accept and wear awards, decorations, or citations from any United Nations member nation for their meritorious military service. The law specifies that eligibility for these awards is not contingent on current service status with the Philippine Expeditionary Force or United Nations forces, as long as the service justifying the award occurred during their military engagement. Furthermore, if an individual dies before the award is accepted, their legal heirs may accept it on their behalf. The act took effect immediately upon its approval.
