Authority of Durano and Co., Inc. and Universal Cement Co., Inc. to Widen and Concrete National Highway
Republic Act No. 2386, enacted on June 20, 1959, authorizes Durano and Company, Inc. and Universal Cement Company, Inc. to widen and concrete the national highway in front of their cement plant in Danao, Cebu, along with municipal streets in Danao, Carmen, and Catmon. The companies will undertake these improvements at their own expense, under the supervision of the highway district engineer and in accordance with the Department of Public Works and Communications' standards. Importantly, the government will not reimburse the companies for these expenses. The act took effect immediately upon approval and was published in the Official Gazette on August 24, 1959.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2386
AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE DURANO AND COMPANY, INC. AND THE UNIVERSAL CEMENT COMPANY, INC., TO WIDEN AND CONCRETE, AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE, THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY FRONTING THEIR CEMENT PLANT IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF DANAO, PROVINCE OF CEBU, AND THE MUNICIPAL STREETS OF THE TOWNS OF DANAO, CARMEN AND CATMON, ALL IN THE PROVINCE OF CEBU, AND TO CONCRETE SUCH OTHER PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS THEREIN AS MAY BE DESIGNATED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCILS THEREOF
SECTION 1. The Durano and Company, Inc. and the Universal Cement Company, Inc., are hereby authorized to widen and concrete, at their own expense, the national highway fronting their cement plant in the Municipality of Danao, Province of Cebu, and the municipal streets in the towns of Danao, Carmen and Catmon, all in the Province of Cebu, and to concrete such other public improvements therein as may be designated by the municipal councils thereof: Provided, That all the public works contemplated herein shall be done under the supervision of the highway district engineer in the Province of Cebu and in accordance with the standard plans and specifications of the Department of Public Works and Communications: Provided, further, That no reimbursement for costs of the works contemplated herein shall be paid by the government to the Durano and Company, Inc. and the Universal Cement Company, Inc.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. aisa dc
