Amendments to LOI No. 779 (s. 1978) Re: Allowances of MLGCD Development Officers
Letter of Instructions No. 821, issued on February 28, 1979, amends the previous Letter of Instruction No. 779, which prohibited national government officials and employees from receiving additional compensation from local government units. The amendment recognizes the expanded roles of Provincial, City, and Municipal Development Officers in assisting local governments and justifies providing them with allowances for their services. Accordingly, these development officers are now permitted to receive allowances from local government units, contingent upon local government approval. This change aims to fairly compensate these officers for their contributions to community and local development.
