ACT NO. 2952
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS EIGHTEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FIVE AND EIGHTEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-EIGHT AND STRIKE OUT SECTION EIGHTEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-SIX OF ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-SEVEN HUNDRED AND ELEVEN, KNOWN AS THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, ABOLISHING THE POSITION OF SECRETARY OF THE WEATHER BUREAU AND CREATING THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
SECTION 1. Section eighteen hundred and eighty-five of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, known as the Administrative Code, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 1885. Chief officials of the Weather Bureau. — The Weather Bureau shall have one chief and one assistant chief, to be known as Director and Assistant Director, respectively, and three officials appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, who shall be assigned to be the heads of one or more divisions of the Weather Bureau and shall bear the designation of chief of the division or divisions to which they are assigned."
SECTION 2. Section eighteen hundred and eighty-six of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, known as the Administrative Code, is hereby stricken out.
SECTION 3. Section eighteen hundred and eighty-eight of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, known as the Administrative Code, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 1888. Powers and duties of Assistant Director. — The Assistant Director of the Weather Bureau shall aid the Director in his official correspondence, shall have charge and direction of the mailing department and supervision over the observers, and shall perform such other duties, scientific or administrative, as the Director may assign to him." TAIaHE
SECTION 4. The Assistant Director shall receive an annual salary of four thousand pesos, and there is hereby appropriated, out of any general funds not otherwise appropriated, such sum as may be necessary for the payment of the salary accruing to said Assistant Director until December thirty-first, nineteen hundred and twenty-one. Provision for the funds necessary for this office shall be made in the Annual Appropriation Act.
SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
