Amending P.D. No. 928 Re: Adjustment of Existing Statutory Minimum Wages
Presidential Decree No. 1389, issued on May 29, 1978, amends Presidential Decree No. 928 to adjust the statutory minimum wage in the Philippines. It mandates a total increase of three pesos, implemented in three stages over three years: one peso starting July 1, 1978, followed by another peso on May 1, 1979, and the final peso on May 1, 1980. Additionally, employment-intensive cottage industries that focus on manufacturing local raw materials for export are exempt from this wage increase for the first three years of their operations. The Secretary of Labor is tasked with creating regulations to ensure the effective implementation of this decree.
