Abolishing Exemptions under P.D. Nos. 525, 1123, 851 and 928
Presidential Decree No. 1364, issued on May 1, 1978, abolishes exemptions previously allowed under Presidential Decrees 525, 1123, 851, and 928, which were designed to protect workers' wages from inflation. The decree cites that many employers continued to seek exemptions even after sufficient time had passed for necessary adjustments, thereby depriving employees of their entitled benefits. From the effective date, the Department of Labor is prohibited from accepting new exemption applications, while existing applications will be processed. Exemptions granted prior to this decree will not be renewable upon expiration, except for those specifically exempted by law.
