Amending Part XII, Article VIII, Section 1 of Integrated Reorganization Plan

PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 128
AMENDING PART XII, ARTICLE VIII, SECTION 1, OF THE INTEGRATED REORGANIZATION PLAN APPROVED UNDER PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1 DATED SEPTEMBER 24, 1972
By virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution as Commander-in-Chief of all the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and pursuant to Proclamation No. 1081, dated September 21, 1972, and General Order No. 1 dated September 22, 1972, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby amend Part XII Article VIII, Section 1, of the Integrated Reorganization Plan approved under Presidential Decree No. 1 dated September 24, 1972, to read as follows:
"Sec. 1. The Board on Textbooks is renamed Textbook Board, with seven members, at least one of whom shall be from among the Muslims and other national cultural minorities. Its functions shall be limited to the selection and approval of suitable textbooks to be used in the public elementary and secondary schools and the approval of suitable textbooks to be used by elementary and secondary private schools. The chairman and four members of the Board, shall be appointed by the President of the Philippines for a term of three years and shall have at least a master's degree or its equivalent in terms of professional experience, status and achievements. The Director of the Bureau of Elementary Education and the Director of the Bureau of Secondary Education shall replace the Director of Public Schools and the Director of Private Schools as ex-officio members of the Textbook Board."
This Decree is hereby made part of the law of the land and shall take effect immediately.
