Amending Article 75(a) of the Rules and Regulations Governing Professional Boxing in the Philippines

GAB RESOLUTION NO. 19-06

AMENDING ARTICLE 75 (a) OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE PROFESSIONAL BOXING IN THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) is one of the Executive Offices under the Office of the President, established or organized by virtue of Executive Order No. 392, series of 1951;

WHEREAS, the GAB is the only agency in the entire governmental machinery entrusted with the responsibility of regulating and supervising the conduct of all professional sports and games in the country and raising the standards thereof to a level comparable to those of foreign countries;

WHEREAS, on February 5, 2006, Commissioner Alex A. Paglumotan was appointed as the Official Philippine Representative of the Women's International Boxing Association (WIBA) by President Ryan Wissow and likewise named as an Officer of WIBA's Asian Branch to the newly formed Women's Asian Boxing Association (WABA), which was created to help develop and further evolve women professional boxing in Asia;

WHEREAS, as part of his official function in the WIBA is to oversee all WIBA affairs in the Philippines which include the sanctioning of WIBA title fights, furnishing records and results of female boxing bouts and recommending any Filipino women for WIBA ratings;

WHEREAS, there is an existing rule embodied in the Rules and Regulations Governing Professional Boxing in the Philippines particularly Article 75 (a), where women boxing has not yet been sanctioned in the Philippines and therefore, there is a need to approve the sanctioning of the same.

Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, as it is hereby RESOLVED that Article 75 (a) of the Rules and Regulations Governing the Professional Boxing in the Philippines be AMENDED as it is hereby AMENDED and now read as follows:

"Article 75. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS

(a) The Board approves the sanctioning of professional woman boxing in the Philippines."

RESOLVED further that this Resolution be forwarded to the Office of the President through the Executive Secretary; for approval and be published in the Official Gazette as mandated by law. cAaDHT
