Services of Barangay Officers Covered by Paglilingkod: Bagong Lipunan Program ( Letter of Instructions No. 623 )

LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 623

WHEREAS, Letter of Instructions No. 559 has been issued to implement the program on Paglilingkod: Bagong Lipunan which requires all government officials and employees to render at least fifteen (15) days of rural service within a given calendar year on official time; cd

WHEREAS, there are government officials and employees who are officials in their respective Barangays and rendering services as Barangay Captains, members of the Council, Secretaries and Treasurers thereof; Pook Leaders, Executive Officers and members of the Barangay Community Brigades and similar Barangay Action Groups;

WHEREAS, the services of these Barangay Officials are analogous to services contemplated under the program of Paglilingkod: Bagong Lipunan;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby direct and order that all government officials and employees who are officials in their respective Barangays and rendering services as Barangay Captains, members of the Council, Secretaries and Treasurers thereof; Pook Leaders, Executive Officers and members of the Barangay Community Brigades and similar Barangay Action Groups shall be considered, as they are hereby considered, to have rendered the required services under the program of Paglilingkod: Bagong Lipunan and are therefore, exempted therefrom: Provided, however, that the said Barangay Officials and leaders shall have actually discharged and performed their functions and duties as such, duly certified the Barangay Captain concerned. aisa dc

All Letter of Instruction, Memorandum Circulars, Rules and Regulations or parts thereof that are inconsistent herewith are hereby revoked or modified accordingly.

This Letter of Instructions shall take effect immediately. cd
