Revoking All Powers and Authority of Local Government Over Certain Forms of Gambling
Presidential Decree No. 771, issued on August 20, 1975, revokes the authority of local governments in the Philippines to grant licenses, permits, or franchises for horse and dog racing, jai-alai, and other forms of gambling. The decree transfers this power to the national government to better control and regulate gambling activities, which have been linked to social ills and vices in the country.
