WHEREAS, Letter of Instruction No. 717 created the Task Force Anti-Bookies to effectively combat and prevent the existence and proliferation of illegal forms of organized gambling on amusement games; cdt
WHEREAS, there is an urgent need to widen the coverage and scope of operation of the Task Force Anti-Bookies by initially re-naming it as Task Force Anti-Gambling, and subject to its operation not only illegally organized gambling on amusement games but all other forms of illegal gambling;
This will not only enhances the already increased revenue collections of the government which could be substantially utilized to benefit various charitable institutions, civic projects and other development-oriented programs, but will also eliminate the pernicious effects of gambling on the social, moral and economic growth of the country;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines do hereby order the re-naming of the Task Force Anti-Bookies from such to Task Force Anti-Gambling to make it a more effective Task Force designed to combat and prevent the existence and widespread growth of all forms of illegal gambling.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 24th day of January, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Nine.
