Requiring a Five Meter Easement on Both Sides of the Marikina Valley Fault Trace

HLURB Resolution No. R-515-92Implementing Rules and Regulations

On August 17, 1992, HLURB Resolution No. R-515-92 was adopted, mandating a five-meter easement on both sides of the Marikina Valley Fault Trace and other identified fault traces as per PHIVOLCS guidelines. This resolution amends the rules implementing Presidential Decree No. 957 to ensure that no development occurs within this easement zone, thereby reducing risks associated with land development in seismically active areas. Developers are required to coordinate with PHIVOLCS for the exact delineation of fault traces when applying for subdivision plans. The resolution aims to enhance safety measures in land development projects located in areas prone to seismic activity.
