Regulation of Private Practice Privileges of Physicians in Government Service
Act No. 3319, approved on December 4, 1926, regulates the private practice privileges of physicians working in hospitals under the Philippine Health Service. It allows these physicians, excluding interns, to earn income from private patients, contingent upon the Director of Health's recommendation and the Department Secretary's approval. ACT NO. 3319
AN ACT TO REGULATE THE PRIVATE PRACTICE PRIVILEGES OF THE PHYSICIANS IN THE GOVERNMENT SERVICE ATTACHED TO HOSPITALS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE PHILIPPINE HEALTH SERVICE
SECTION 1. Any provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, any physician serving in any hospital under the jurisdiction of the Philippine Health Service, excepting interns, who by virtue of Act Numbered Twenty-nine hundred and thirty-five is entitled to practice privately, may receive a share of his receipts for professional services rendered to private or pay patients in or outside the hospital, during or outside of office hours, on recommendation of the Director of Health and with the approval of the Department Secretary: Provided, That not less than twenty-five per centum of such receipts shall go to the hospital.
SECTION 2. The schedule of fees of the physician shall be regulated by the Director of Health, with the approval of the Department Secretary.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
