RE: PROPOSED REFORMS IN THE BAR EXAMINATIONS
NOTICE
Sirs/Mesdames :
Please take notice that the Court en banc issued a Resolution dated DECEMBER 7, 2021, which reads as follows:
"B.M. No. 1161 (Re: Proposed Reforms in the Bar Examinations). — The Court Resolved to
(a) NOTE and APPROVE the Letter dated November 25, 2021 of Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, suggesting that the disqualification contained in the Resolution dated June 8, 2004, which states that a member of the Bar is disqualified from participating in any Bar examinations as an examiner if he or she is a member of the 'governing board, faculty or administration of a law school,' be limited to being a dean of a law school instead, in order not to unduly restrict the choice of Bar examiners; and
(b) AMEND Paragraph No. 7, Letter 'A' of the aforesaid Resolution dated June 8, 2004, to read as follows:
7. Disqualifications of Examiners:
(a) Kinship with an examinee who is or her spouse or relative within the third civil degree of consanguinity or affinity;
(b) Having a member of his or her office staff as an examinee; or when the spouse or child of such staff member is an examinee;
(c) Being a dean of a law school;
(d) Teaching or lecturing in any law school, institution or review center during the particular semester and in the next semester following the Bar examination;
(e) Having an interest or involvement in any law school, bar review center or group; and
(f) Suspension or disbarment from the practice of law or the imposition of any other serious disciplinary sanction. [Amendment in bold]"
