Processing of Claims for Retirement Benefits from the GSIS
Letter of Instructions No. 28, issued on October 14, 1972, addresses the insufficient funds of the Philippine National Government to cover retirement, leave, and other benefits for employees separated from service. It mandates that claims for retirement benefits under the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) be processed according to existing policies. However, claims related to accumulated vacation and sick leave payments are to be temporarily suspended until the total funding required is determined and available. Compliance with this order is required to ensure fairness in benefit distribution.
