EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 837

AN ORDER PLACING THE FILM DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL OF THE PHILIPPINES UNDER THE OVERSIGHT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

WHEREAS, RA 9167, created the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) under the Office of the President; AcSIDE

WHEREAS, the FDCP is mandated to develop and promote programs to enhance the skills and expertise of Filipino talents necessary for quality film production;

WHEREAS, the Department of Education is the primary government agency involved in developing the country's educational system, including the advancement of film, music and the arts;

WHEREAS, paragraph 2, Section 31, Chapter 10, Title III, Book III of the Administrative Code of 1987 grants the President continuing authority to reorganize the administrative structure of the Office of the President.

NOW THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. The Film Development Council of the Philippines is placed under the oversight of the Department of Education.

SECTION 2. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.
