July 31, 2008 as Special (Non-Working) Day in Marinduque
Proclamation No. 1553, issued on July 11, 2008, declares July 31, 2008, as a special non-working day in the Province of Marinduque. This day commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Paye, allowing the local population to celebrate with appropriate ceremonies. The proclamation is signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita, under the authority of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

DECLARING THURSDAY, JULY 31, 2008 AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF MARINDUQUE
WHEREAS, Thursday, July 31, 2008, marks the anniversary of the Battle of Paye in the Province of Marinduque;
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Marinduque be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Thursday, July 31, 2008, as special (non-working) day in the Province of Marinduque. CTSHDI
