Increasing the Salaries of Ministers in the Executive Branch of the National Government
Presidential Decree No. 1493, issued on June 11, 1978, mandates an increase in the salaries of Ministers in the Executive Branch of the Philippine government to P75,000 per annum. This adjustment was deemed necessary due to the rising costs of living and the additional legislative responsibilities that Ministers hold as members of the Interim Batasang Pambansa. The decree also allocates funds from the National Treasury to support this salary increase. The new salary structure took effect immediately upon the decree's issuance.
