Fixing the Salary of CFI Judges and CA Justices
Republic Act No. 5479, enacted on June 21, 1969, establishes fixed annual salaries for judges of the Courts of First Instance and justices of the Court of Appeals, set at 23,000 pesos, 28,000 pesos, and 30,000 pesos for the presiding justice, respectively. The law clarifies that these salary rates apply exclusively to the specified judicial positions, overriding any previous laws that may align other salaries to these amounts. An appropriation of two million pesos from the National Treasury is authorized to fund this salary increase. The act takes effect upon its approval and amends any inconsistent laws.
