Extension of Assistance and Cooperation to the XI SEA Games Organizing Committee

LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 988

TO : All Heads of Ministries and Government Agencies

WHEREAS, pursuant to the commitment of the Philippines to host the XI Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Metro Manila in 1981, an Organizing Committee has been formed by virtue of a Presidential directive to oversee the preparation and actual holding of this prestigious international event; and

WHEREAS, considering the importance of the task of the Organizing Committee there is need to lend this body full assistance and cooperation from all agencies of the government;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby issue the following orders and instructions:

1. All heads of Ministries and Government agencies, including military service and government corporations, are hereby instructed to extend assistance and cooperation to the XI SEA Games Organizing Committee as the latter may require.

2. The Organizing Committee may call upon any government entity for staff support by way of detail services of their personnel for the duration of the preparation and holding of the games or as long as the Committee may need their services.

3. For purposes of such preparation, the Organizing Committee shall have prior claim on the use of the facilities of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and other government sports facilities.

4. This Letter of Instructions shall take effect immediately.
